Board extends Waste Management contract for one year at current rates; officials warn prices may rise after expiration

The Douglass Township Board voted to extend the current Waste Management trash contract for one additional year at the same cost to residents, covering service through Dec. 31, 2025 with an option described to extend through the end of the contract period. Manager Andrew Duncan warned that pricing after the contract ends could increase significantly and said the township intends to update the bid package and go to bid in mid-2026.
"The contract is due to expire at the end of December however we do have an option to extend the contract for one year at the same cost to residents," Duncan said; the motion to extend the contract passed unanimously. The board recorded the extension and directed staff to prepare the revised bid package for solicitation next year.
