County pursues grants and partnerships after rejecting mandatory rider fee

After commissioners rejected making the $20 rider donation mandatory, county staff outlined a strategy to pursue outside funding and partnerships. Commissioner (speaker 6) said they attended grant-writing training and received a list of potential funders, and a grant manager from the Department of Aging and Benefits of Minnesota offered help with applications. The presenter also reported roadblocks to transitioning large-scale services to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) because DAV needs VA permission and a study, which could take one to three years, and DAV currently lacks sufficient volunteer drivers for the county’s needs.
