Knox College students ask council for crosswalk at Knox Farm

Nicole Ramon, a Knox College sophomore representing Students for Sustainability, asked the council to install a pedestrian crosswalk and a 'stop when pedestrian is present' sign at the corner of Berrien and Academy Street to improve safe access to the Knox Farm. "I am here with a request for implementation of a pedestrian crosswalk and a stop when pedestrian is present sign on the corner of Berrien And Academy Street to the entrance of the Knox College's farm," Ramon said, describing the farm's educational uses and frequent community visits.

City Manager Hansen responded in the manager's report that the college owns the properties on both sides of that block, so staff will consult with Knox College administration and perform additional due diligence before making any definitive decision; he noted reworking the intersection could be a major undertaking. "Before we move forward with any action, staff is intending to speak with college administration about what the overall plan is," Hansen said.
