Galesburg marks Lindstrom's 100th anniversary and proclaims Manufacturing Month

Mayor Peter Schwartzman presented a proclamation congratulating Lindstrom's TV & Appliance on its 100th anniversary and recognized the business's long-running role in downtown Galesburg. "I, Peter Schwartzman, mayor of the city of Galesburg, Illinois, do hereby congratulate Lindstrom's TV and appliance on the occasion of its hundredth anniversary," Schwartzman read.
The mayor also proclaimed October 2024 as Manufacturing Month in Illinois and invited the head of the vocational center (identified in the meeting as the head of GVAC/JVC) to update the council. The GVAC representative told council the center is "seeing as high an enrollment as we've ever seen," reporting an increase from about 350 students last year to a projected 450 and that applications rose from roughly 500 to 750. The representative invited council members to a manufacturing showcase on Oct. 31 and described employer participation and student turnout expectations.
