City staff asked the council to waive standard purchasing rules and approve a purchase order to Midwest Transit Equipment for a total cost of $904,260. "With City Council's approval of this purchase ... sufficient funds are available for this purchase with 900,000 paid from the active federal grant and the remaining 4,260 paid from the public transportation fund," Hansen said. Staff warned that supply chains remain constrained and delivery could take between six months and two years, which is why securing a place in line is important.
Council approved the purchase by a 7-0 roll call. Staff said the action will allow the city to issue a purchase order and secure production slots; details on delivery and fleet integration will follow through staff reports.
