Residents praise golf operations and urge updated voting equipment during public comment

Two members of the public spoke during the council's public comment period on Aug. 5. David Selkirk, who identified himself as speaking about "bunker lengths," described higher rounds at local courses and previewed junior and amateur events that bring visitors and stay-over business to Galesburg.
Richard Stout, identified as a longtime Galesburg resident and an election judge, urged council support for replacing voting machines. "My simple message is that it's time to replace those machines," he said, noting the item was on the night's agenda and asking the council to approve the related resolution.
Mayor and staff thanked both speakers for their remarks. The council later approved the funding resolution for voting tabulators (24-20-18) during the business agenda.
