"We were just actually looking at the language when you compare CMU 35 to the UMU 60," Gardner said, and noted the team is proposing a 2.9 FAR rather than the maximum entitlements.
A local business owner, Paul Venggis, spoke in support during public comment, saying he was "excited for the project" and that increased density could help nearby retail. Commissioners discussed the compatibility of UMU‑60 near the historic district edge and voted to recommend approval to City Council; the motion passed 3–1. The recommendation will move to City Council next month for final decision.
