Planning staff told the council the planning department is seeing an increase in reviews that has pushed revenue for the fiscal year above last year's totals. "We're already up this fiscal year to, around $17,700," the staff member said, noting last year's collections were about $16,654.
The presentation listed several active commercial projects under review — including a Starbucks retrofit, a 5 Below conversion, a new dental clinic at the south end of town and pending plans for the Westin Lading Apartments, described as "very similar to Lovehill" and roughly 64 units. Staff said many multifamily projects are clustered to limit encroachment on single‑family neighborhoods and that an updated comprehensive plan will help guide future development.
