County awards $1.54 million 9‑Mile Road reconstruction contract, including WEA grant funding

The Board of County Commissioners awarded the County Road 9 reconstruction contract to Kilgore Companies LLC (doing business as Lewis & Lewis Inc.) for $1,540,285.70 to reconstruct the first 1.5 miles of the 9‑Mile Road, the busy route that serves the power plant and seasonal industrial traffic.
Public Works Director Gene Legurski said the work is the culmination of roughly 3.5 years of preparation and that traffic counts place the road in the top three busiest paved county roads, typically 1,800–1,900 vehicles per day and peaking near 3,000 during shutdowns. Legurski said about $1.5 million of the contract will be paid through a Wyoming Energy Authority grant and the remainder from county fuel tax funds. Commissioners voted unanimously to award the contract and authorized the chairman to sign.
