County accepts $47,278 EMPG award to support emergency management coordinator

The Board of County Commissioners approved the 2024 Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) agreement, accepting a $47,278 award from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security that requires a 50% cash match and runs through Sept. 30, 2025.
"The purpose of EMPG funding is to assist local governments in enhancing and sustaining all hazards emergency management capabilities," Grants Manager Christina Marshall said, adding the budget covers payroll and travel for the emergency management coordinator and that the local match was included in the FY25 grant projects budget. Commissioners authorized the chairman to sign the agreement.
Staff noted the statewide EMPG allocation was reduced this cycle but expected the county's budget to avoid a shortfall because the new coordinator will incur only 10 months of expenses in FY25; leftover funds can be carried forward to FY26 if necessary.
