Jamestown Fire District board faces possible dissolution as three seats expire; county to research options

Representatives of the Jamestown Fire District told the Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 17 that all three elected board seats will expire Jan. 1 and no candidates stepped forward to fill those terms.
"We've served for many years and, we're coming to the end of, our terms, which will expire the January 1," said Dave Buller, who identified himself as the district's secretary‑treasurer. Buller said the district's paid obligations are current and estimated the amount currently held for payments to the City of Green River is "maybe $10,000" but that the annual budgeted mill levy should generate roughly $23,000 if all billed dollars are collected, according to the county assessor's calculation.
County Assessor David Davis confirmed the mill‑levy calculation and that the district remains bonded; the treasurer's office continues to distribute payments to the district’s account. Commissioners said they would review relevant statutes and options — including whether elected members may remain in a holdover status until replacements are appointed or elected — and follow up with district leaders before the next meeting.
