The Alliance City Council on Nov. 4, 2025 approved Resolution No. 25-153 authorizing a five-year lease/purchase agreement with GETAC for body-worn and in-car camera systems. Staff said officers currently use cellular phones as body cameras and patrol vehicles lack in-car systems; GETAC was selected from three vendors and is the only vendor offering on-site installation and training. The proposed package includes 15 GETAC body cameras and 12 in-car video systems with related accessories, installation and a five-year lease with a $1 buyout option; total cost is $218,124.83 with annual payments of $50,379.10.
The Council voted unanimously to approve the lease. Staff noted the Box Butte County Sheriff's Department uses GETAC and that the systems integrate with the department's existing GETAC mobile laptops. After lease execution the department will plan installation, training and data-management arrangements for storage and retention.
