The City Commission used part of its July 28 meeting to recognize local contributions to the community. Mayor (S2) introduced Lopez Ready Mix as the city's Business of the Month, reading a company history that noted the firm's founding in the late 1960s and generations of local service; a company representative accepted the award and thanked the city. "For the past 50 years, our family had the privilege of serving the community by providing ready mixed concrete for homes, businesses, schools, roads, and countless projects," the Lopez Ready Mix representative said.
The commission also named Ignacio "Nacho" Mejorado the Citizen of the Month, citing nearly three decades of service to Rio Grande City ISD athletics; Mejorado offered brief remarks of thanks. Separately, the commission recognized a parks-and-recreation staff member as Employee of the Month, with departmental directors praising the honoree's work ethic and commitment. Photographs and short acceptance remarks followed each presentation.
