"I'm Anthony Lewis, the extremely proud new superintendent of Durham Public Schools," Lewis said in remarks to the boards, calling partnerships with city and county governments "a superpower" for serving students. Board members thanked interim superintendent Cady Moore for her leadership during the transition and said they look forward to Lewis's start.
The board framed Lewis's arrival around collaboration with local governments and the district's ongoing work on pay and program investments. Lewis said he would make time in his first days to meet staff and community stakeholders and that he views close coordination with municipal partners as essential to school planning and student supports.
