Roxbury selectmen deny Knotty Moose outdoor liquor-area plan citing 'improper activities'

The Roxbury Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Aug. 27 to deny a proposed outdoor area plan for the Knotty Moose after consulting the Maine Liquor License Division. Selectman Timothy Derouche moved to deny the request, citing "improper activities in drinking area," and Selectman Matthew Patneaude seconded; the motion passed 3-0.
The minutes state that Marlene Richards of the Maine Liquor License Division contacted the town and told the board the current design was "not okay." Charlie, the Knotty Moose representative, was not present at the meeting; the board said it will notify him in writing of the denial.
The board also discussed a boundary agreement for First Beach and indicated it will consider legal counsel's guidance on that item in executive session. No appeal or amendment to the Knotty Moose decision was recorded at the meeting.
