Adam Elenbaas, DDA staff member, briefed the board on the M‑45/60th Ave traffic-signal project and its funding timetable.
Elenbaas told the board that MDOT currently has the project planned for 2029 with bidding scheduled at the end of 2027. He said he is trying to move construction into 2028 but cautioned that lead times for materials such as light poles are currently about two years, which could make an earlier start difficult. "MDOT to cover the cost of the traffic light; Township (DDA) to cover the cost of the reconstruction of the intersection and paving," Elenbaas said.
The board noted that the reconstruction and paving costs will be covered from the DDA's TIF (tax increment financing) and that staff will build the work into upcoming annual budgets. Members also discussed alternatives, including a possible tunnel under M‑45, but no decision on that option was made.
