Congressman Garcia said survivors of Jeffrey Epstein described a recent, quickly arranged meeting with Todd Blanche as dismissive and unresponsive, and he urged opposition to Blanche's confirmation as attorney general. Garcia said survivors reported "no real answers" and "no real commitments" from Blanche and characterized their reaction as "incredibly disappointed."
Garcia told the audience that survivors said Blanche treated the session as a "mere check the box exercise" intended to secure votes for his confirmation. He quoted survivors saying, "We were gaslit," and said they were repeatedly interrupted and "skipped over." Garcia also described Blanche as "abrasive, condescending, and intentionally noncommittal" toward survivors. He said, as he recounted it, that "0.5 of the evidence in this investigation is still being held by the DOJ," but did not provide a source for that estimate.
Garcia concluded his remarks by urging that "Todd Blanche should not be confirmed as attorney general." The remarks were presented as Garcia's report of survivors' accounts; the transcript contains no response from Blanche or officials at the Department of Justice and no documentary evidence was cited in the remarks.
