The Ellendale City Council voted May 28 to offer the part-time seasonal general maintenance position to Trenton Hilley at a wage of $18.50 per hour. Council member Joel Meyer moved the offer and Council member Charlie Berg seconded; the motion passed on a roll call vote with Council members Asplund, Berg, Meyer, Swanson and Acting Mayor Scott Groth voting Aye.
Council discussion noted the role is primarily mowing, trimming and maintaining parks and other grounds for a 16-week period. Meyer told the council that while all three applicants would fulfill the duties, two had limited availability through August, and the third applicant (Hilley) was available for the full 16-week timeframe. City Clerk/Treasurer Steve Engel was directed to contact all three applicants with the council’s decision.
