Council discussed an emergency repair on 6th Street South after maintenance found a separation under a driveway that was blocking a 6-inch sewer line. Empire Plumbing quoted $8,316 to place a sleeve within the line under the driveway; Olson Excavating estimated approximately $4,000 to excavate and replace the pipe and the driveway. The council agreed to ask Olson for a detailed estimate before approving a permanent repair.
Separately, Maintenance Supervisor Josh Otto requested authorization to purchase spare sewer and water parts from DSG. Council Member Charlie Berg moved to approve the purchase of parts for $6,789.55 to be paid from the sewer and water funds; the motion was advanced by Jon Asplund and passed by roll call. The council asked staff to provide detailed repair cost comparisons before moving forward with physical excavation or sleeve installation.
