Nate Cardinal presented the districtwide bid for fire systems monitoring, inspections, testing and cleaning for 2026–27 and reported only a single bid from incumbent Ashworth & Belcastro Systems, Inc. dba ABS. The Board awarded the contract to ABS for $91,200, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with the option to extend for three additional one-year terms; the motion passed unanimously, 6–0.
The contract covers fire extinguishers, quarterly inspections, hood cleaning and elevator testing. Trustees cited ABS’s established knowledge of district systems and cost considerations in supporting award of the single bid. Staff will finalize the contract and proceed with scheduled inspections and certifications under the new term.
