The Durham County Board of Commissioners added to the agenda and adopted a resolution thanking Curtis Massey for his service as interim county attorney.
Commissioner Howerton read the resolution, which recited Massey’s appointment on March 11, 2024, his 24 years as a sheriff’s legal advisor and prior roles in the county attorney’s office, and his service in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. The resolution credited Massey with guiding legal work on land use, affordable housing and public health issues and recognized his mentoring and community involvement.
Curtis Massey spoke briefly, thanked the board and the legal staff and said he appreciated the recognition. "I'd like to thank you. I appreciate the recognition," he said, adding lighthearted remarks about personnel in the office and noting he expected to continue contributing as needed.
The board’s adoption of the resolution followed a motion to add it to the agenda and a voice vote to approve it.
