Larissa S. Williamson sworn in as Durham County attorney after unanimous board vote

Judge Josephine Davis administered the oath of office. After repeating the oath, Williamson thanked the board and said she was “so happy and so ecstatic to be able to do the good work for the people of Durham County.” Commissioners praised Williamson’s legal work and experience during brief remarks before the swearing-in.
The motion to extend the offer was made by Commissioner Jacobs and seconded by Commissioner Harrington; the chair called for the vote and the motion passed unanimously. Earlier in the meeting the chair had described the motion as necessary following a closed session in which the board considered qualifications and appointment-related matters under state statute.
Williamson noted her long career and colleagues in the county legal department and said she was “beyond excited” to begin serving in the role. Judge Davis led Williamson through the oath and asked her to state her full name before repeating the pledge to support the constitutions of the United States and North Carolina.
The swearing-in concluded with photos and brief congratulations from the commissioners, who emphasized Williamson’s experience providing legal advice across county departments.
