Court allows monitored defendant one moving day; U-Haul pickup and return limited to Aug. 1
Summary

A defendant under partial house arrest received limited permission to move personal property on a single day. After hearing testimony about storage locations, work hours and ankle-monitor records, the judge permitted the defendant to rent a U-Haul and authorized movement for one day only: Saturday, Aug. 1, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The judge summarized the order: “So I'm allowing him move from 7AM to 10PM. I will allow him to pick up the U Haul and return the U Haul.”
The court limited the trip to four stops (pick up rental truck; stop at packing location; stop at the new residence; return the truck) and allowed gas stops if necessary. Counsel must provide pretrial services with the pickup and return locations and the addresses for the origin and destination. The state objected to broader movement because of recent monitor noncompliance; the court emphasized the single-day restriction and required coordination with pretrial services if further time or off-hours return of the rental is needed.
