DPW reports tree removals, leaf-truck readiness and holiday lighting plans

Department of Public Works staff said tree trimming and removals will start the week of Oct. 7, leaf truck runs begin after Columbus Day, parking-lot lighting and outlets for holiday decorations are being checked, and five trees were identified for removal.
At the Oct. 7 work session, DPW staff outlined fall and routine operations across the village. Trustees heard that tree removal and trimming in Zone 1 is partially underway with remaining work to start the week of Oct. 7; five trees were identified for removal (four on Cherry Street and one on Richard Street). The leaf truck is set up and scheduled to begin runs after the Columbus Day weekend.
DPW also reported that the new Yoakum Street park is completed though a berm behind the park still needs finishing, the traffic light at 5 Corners Park has been repaired, and crack-sealing and paving work (including nine roads and Waverly Place) is substantially complete. Staff are coordinating with Castro Landscaping on fall plantings and with the Town of Oyster Bay on GFI units for holiday lighting. Several parking-lot lights and outlets are being checked to support upcoming decorations.
