The Board of Trustees of the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale approved placement of portraits for former Mayor Butch Starkie and the late Deputy Mayor Pat Christiansen on the courtroom Wall of Honor during its Oct. 7 regular meeting.
Former Mayor Butch Starkie spoke to the board and attendees about his six years on the board, including four years as mayor, and thanked his wife and family for their support during his time in office. Starkie also expressed respect for his former colleague, saying she was missed by many.
At the presentation, Christiansen’s children, Nicole and Peter, reflected on their mother’s service and called the portrait placement a return to the community: “she has ‘come home’ with being placed on the Farmingdale ‘Wall of Honor,’” Nicole and Peter said. The board thanked the family and staff for arranging the portraits and noted the additions will remain on the courtroom wall permanently.
