Farmingdale Board approves title search, forms committee for Thomas Powell House; closing set for Sept. 12

The Board authorized Blackstone Land Title Agency to perform a complete title search on the Thomas Powell House at an approximate cost of $15,000 and established a Mayoral Committee to support preservation efforts.
Trustee Cheryl Parisi told the Board that the initial members of the committee will include Trustee Parisi, Debbie Podolski, Laura Coletti, Lorraine Stanton, Margaret Barrett and a member of the school district. Deputy Mayor Barrett told a resident that "the purchase price was $750,000 and the closing is scheduled for September 12, 2024." The Board also approved related minor capital work and a painting contract elsewhere in the Village during the same work-session approvals.
The title search is intended to clear any outstanding ownership or encumbrance questions ahead of the closing and to inform the committee’s next steps on preservation.
