Police staff updated the council on National Night Out planning and outreach ahead of the Oct. 7 Southern‑region event.
A police official introduced Investigator Gilbert to describe the city’s approach: the department is updating HOA contact lists, encouraging neighborhood block parties and rotating officers so there is law‑enforcement presence across events. The department is coordinating with fire and public works on any street closures and working with city communications for social media posts and printed flyers.
Investigator Gilbert said the slide presentation showed tentative block parties and a city map of participating neighborhoods, and noted staff are collecting block‑party application forms that experienced a technical issue. The department plans to share promotional materials and is exploring limited sponsorship opportunities with local businesses.
Council thanked staff and the presentation concluded; staff will continue outreach and finalize logistics ahead of Oct. 7.
