Commissioners approve first female-owned tattoo studio permit, applicant highlights training and hygiene plans

The Planning Commission granted SUP 21-2026 on July 8 to allow a tattoo establishment at 3925 North Martin L. King Boulevard, Suite 108. Staff recommended approval subject to the listed conditions.
Applicant Sherae Davis introduced herself and described the business as "the first female tattoo shop in North Las Vegas, Nevada," saying she plans to provide community education about tattoo hygiene and to mentor apprentice artists. "Most people just go to their friend's house. They don't know sanitation," she said, stressing plans for licensed apprenticeships and in-shop education.
Davis described infection-control procedures and sharps disposal: shops typically arrange pickup through Nevada Recycling or approved drop-off points for sharps and maintain disinfectant contact times for cleaning. Commissioners asked whether she would offer piercings (she does not currently), about Nevada Health inspections and about licensing requirements for removal services; Davis said she will follow state health and licensing protocols before opening and that business licensing and the seven-day appeal period apply.
A motion to approve SUP 21-2026 with staff recommendations passed on the record. Commissioners welcomed the business and noted its potential to increase licensed opportunities for local tattoo artists.
