Council awards $181,815 mowing contract for medians, parks and cemeteries

Council approved a one-year contract with PACE Turf Solutions for $181,815 to provide weekly mowing, edging and related services at medians, rights-of-way, cemeteries and seven smaller parks beginning Oct. 1. Parks-related maintenance such as tree trimming, bed planning and spraying will remain city staff responsibilities.
Parks staff said the contract is pay-per-service, not a lump-sum payment; if the contractor does not mow in a given week it will not receive payment for that service period. The contract followed a formal bid process with five bidders; staff checked references, including other cities and a school district, and recommended the low bidder. Council approved the contract unanimously.
