Resident Jason Simms asked the Select Board for permission to place a Witness Tree on Town Office property from Nov. 1 through Nov. 11 and to hold a remembrance each day during that period. Jason said he was making the request in order to "bring attention and remembrance of 22 service members who commit suicide each day." Charlie moved to authorize Jason to use Town property for the Witness Tree and daily remembrance ceremonies; Wayne seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
The board authorized the use of the property and did not attach conditions in the recorded motion; Jason asked for the authorization at this meeting so he would have time to make the appropriate arrangements. The board's authorization delegates set-up details to the organizer and the Town Administrator as appropriate.
