Trustees report spring maintenance, contractor work across Gilford cemeteries

The Gilford Cemetery Trustees heard an update on cemetery maintenance and contractor work at their June 1, 2026 meeting. Peter Allen, Trustee, opened the meeting at 4:05 p.m.; Cemetery Caretaker Dan Hewitt reported that "Belknap Landscape contracts are all signed for the Spring treatments," and that he and a colleague have been cleaning smaller cemeteries and focusing on mowing and weed whacking.
Hewitt said the crew planted all the flowers in the fountain at Pine Grove and noted tree work still needed at McCoy: "The trees at McCoy still need to come down; a dead tree the Brown’s cannot reach, a broken tree, and a large pine." He added that he is preparing to take required exams that will allow him to apply fertilizer in the fall and that stone-cleaning will continue when time allows. The trustees did not take formal action on maintenance beyond recording the update.
