Road Commissioner John Monroe told the Select Board that winter plowing and sanding have been running smoothly and that, using odometer readings, "each truck has plowed approx. 5,100 miles so far," a combined total he estimated at about 24,000 miles for the season.
Monroe reviewed the roads budget and said roughly 80% of the winter roads budget has been expended but that he believes the department can finish near the projected budget. He also warned that paving bids to be opened March 13 may come back higher because of market pressures tied to the conflict in the Middle East. Monroe presented payroll-history calculations and argued the town could save approximately $60,000 by resuming year-round town-administered payroll for road staff; the board voted to have the town assume roads payroll effective May 1, 2026.
