The fire chief and department staff briefed council on ongoing renovations at Fire Station 3 and on grant-seeking efforts for equipment and protective gear. The chief said site work and exterior renovations are progressing, including installation of new bay doors that will match the other stations, and estimated the project could wrap in a couple of months.
The chief also said the department is applying for grants to replace personal protective equipment and other required gear; some grants will require matching funds if awarded. Staff described internal preparations for operational deployment and training ahead of the renovated station coming online.
Council members expressed appreciation for the work and asked staff to keep the council updated as grant outcomes are known.
