Co‑developer Fred Merrill described the team and confirmed the project would be limited to 55+ residents; he told commissioners the applicant agreed to the stipulations. Commissioner Reyes voiced support during deliberations, saying, "I really like this project," and commissioners cited the trail connections and the site's difficulty as reasons to favor the proposal.
Commissioner Strauss moved to approve the rezoning to RP‑6 subject to staff stipulations; the motion passed 11–0. The city council will consider the rezoning at its June 1 meeting at 7:30 p.m.
