Building Department reports multiple downtown projects nearing completion, new permits and grants

During the Aug. 19 work session the Building Department provided a rundown of active projects and permitting activity. Officials said the Blue and Gold Development at 1 Conklin Street is nearing completion and will be known as “The Enclave,” a new state‑mandated lighting system will be operational by mid‑September, and Sterling Green and Carlyle projects are moving toward occupancy or certificate‑of‑occupancy milestones.
The Board noted that 7‑11 and Sunoco plans have ZBA approval and an approved Special Use Permit; construction drawings are awaited before issuing building permits. A Dish Network building permit was issued and Verizon submitted an application to install communications equipment on the clock tower at Palmer’s Shopping Center. Enterprise Rent‑A‑Car has an approved Special Use Permit and construction is expected to begin soon. Zuzu has completed work and received a certificate of occupancy. The Building Department also reported a National Grid grant application for street trees and planter boxes (approximately $10,000) and other subdivision and restaurant updates.
