DPW advances pocket park, Main Street traffic and sidewalk improvements under review

DPW staff reported that a new DPW pocket park was approved and is under construction; the gazebo is in place. Crews continue routine maintenance, including watering hanging baskets and sweeping; shop crews are performing oil changes and NYS inspections on Highway and Fire Department vehicles. Superintendent Patanjo is obtaining quotes and delivery schedules for traffic lights tied to Main Street and the FFD traffic light project.
Board members discussed evaluating removal of parking on the east side of Main Street between Conklin Street and South Front Street to widen sidewalks and improve traffic flow. Town of Oyster Bay will supply GFI units for holiday lighting and has been assisting in street-light and parking-meter work.
