Farmingdale reports multi-million-dollar water-treatment funding and ongoing testing at Well 1-3

Village staff reported that sampling and testing for the AOP/GAC installation at Well 1-3 is underway and that Trojan will calibrate the advanced oxidation/powdered-activated-carbon controls to measured contaminant levels; SCADA settings will be adjusted to reflect those levels to meet Health Department requirements. A new steel building to house the GAC tanks is on site pending foundation work; the Health Department added requirements for lighting and heating of that building.
Deputy Clerk Daniel Ruckdeschel recorded that $3,000,000 was awarded to the village in Gov. Hochul’s budget for WIIA improvements; he submitted reimbursement paperwork for $2,250,000 with the remaining 25% to be requested upon job completion. The minutes also note a $4,624,000 commitment for Phase 2 Ridge Road funding via New York State WIIA, a $1 million county commitment through County Legislator John Ferretti, an applied $9.6 million request via Senator Chuck Schumer, a $5 million request via Congressman Thomas Suozzi, and an informal notice of $1.1 million secured in the 2025/2026 Federal Budget through the House Appropriations Committee.
