City staff (Robert, speaker 12) described the proposal: two commercial buildings that together would provide a minimum of about 27,000 square feet of commercial space and multifamily housing targeting roughly 300 units, with open space and recreational amenities between buildings. Staff said the final unit count would be determined in the developer's final development plan; the council supported the rezoning and moved to approve the action.
Councilors framed the redevelopment as an opportunity to create a civic and commercial centerpiece where the old municipal campus once stood, and they asked staff to ensure the adjacent civic building and justice facilities remain appropriately integrated. The zoning action passed with council approval; additional design and development details will be resolved during final plan review.
