City Manager Altman said staff is organizing a town-hall style design charrette to solicit public input on city-owned downtown properties and will work with an architect to facilitate the session in the coming weeks. "We're in conversations now with an architect to help us lead that effort," he said, and urged council and residents to participate.
Altman also notified council of an option included in budget discussions: localities may consider adding an 11% to sales tax via referendum to help fund school construction and renovation. He said staff will send additional information for council consideration if the body wishes to pursue a ballot measure this fall.
