City selects Olson for $717,550 study to plan north-of-159th transportation needs

Staff presented the scope and selection of Olson (after RFQ and interviews) to perform the Overland Park Transportation Study covering transportation needs north of 159th Street. The study will model traffic, analyze corridor optimization, support multimodal design and provide financial and strategic planning to inform decisions through the year 2060. "Key items studied include traffic modeling, corridor optimization, multimodal design, financial and strategic planning," staff said.
Staff recommended the selection of Olson with a negotiated agreement for $717,550. Committee members asked questions about how the study could inform near-term projects (for example, a traffic-pattern change on 103rd Street to improve walking to Brookwood Elementary) and the timetable; staff said the study is expected to conclude in 2027 and will complement other ongoing plans (safe streets and active-transportation studies) before any implementation decisions. The committee recommended the contract and forwarded it to city council.
