Archdale City Council on June 23 approved a rezoning request by applicant Jon Dupin to change approximately 22.6 acres along U.S. Highway 311 from R-40 and B-2 to a Conditional District R-40 to legalize an existing event venue.
Planning Administrator Matthew Wells told council that the property had been permitted as a residence with accessory buildings in 2018 and that event operations require either a special-use permit or conditional district rezoning under the current zoning ordinance. The applicant requested relief from the 100-foot external setback requirement for structures already on the site and asked to exceed the standard limit of 52 event days per year; council granted the rezoning, made the number of events unlimited, and required existing structures as of the approval date to comply with Section 5.2.13 setback requirements.
