A city attorney briefed the council that Sea Energy Gas LLC filed a statement of intent seeking to raise gas rates and that state law permits municipalities to suspend a requested rate increase for 90 days to review the proposal. "The company is seeking an increase of about 31.4% over current adjusted revenues," the city attorney said, and the resolution authorizes Missouri City to cooperate with other cities in the Gulf Coast Coalition of Cities to review and potentially intervene.
Council voted unanimously to adopt the resolution, suspending the proposed June 8 effective date for 90 days to allow the coalition and city staff to review the filing and pursue possible reductions or intervention as appropriate under state processes.
