Councilmembers pressed staff for clarity about a 5% pay increase that appears in the adopted budget for five direct reports to council. Hector said he had received calls suggesting the five direct reports might receive two raises; staff clarified that the 5% increase is included in the budget and scheduled to take effect Oct. 1, and that any additional changes could be considered during the regular March review and evaluation period.
On the record, Joyce said the direct reports were included in the budget and "it is included in this budget to get on October 1." She added that March is when evaluations are performed and council could decide on adjustments later. Councilmembers and staff agreed to provide a list of which employees receive the adjustment to the council at the meeting upon request.
