Staff said they ran a community vaccine and microchip drive that served more than 75 pets, and they noted rescue support (including assistance with kittens) and grant-funded expenditures that allowed a dog to be saved via a femoral‑head ostectomy that otherwise might have been euthanized. Staff said the shelter experienced a panleukopenia outbreak among cats in July that led to an elevated number of deaths among felines but that the outbreak was controlled.
"Our total live release rate for the month of July was 90 percent," staff reported, adding that dog live-release was 93 percent and cat live-release was 85 percent for the month. Council members thanked staff and had no substantive questions; the mayor moved on to adjourn the meeting.
