Neighbors say notice was too slow as Saddle Creek commercial amendment moves forward

Kurt Mooney, a Saddle Creek resident, said the mailed notice arrived the same week that packet materials were released online and that the window for submitting written objections closed before residents could review the proposal. “The citizens of Prosper are not being involved in the decisions that do impact our lives and our investments in our homes,” Mooney said during the meeting. Multiple neighbors echoed concerns about who received mailed notice and the timing for submitting comments.
Staff asked the commission to keep the public hearing open while the applicant coordinates additional outreach with the homeowners association. After public comment and discussion, the commission voted to continue the public hearing and table action on the Saddle Creek Commercial amendment to the August 18 Planning and Zoning meeting so staff and the applicant can provide more information to residents.
Why it matters: residents said the notice timeline limited meaningful review and community input on land-use changes that directly abut neighborhoods. The continued hearing gives staff and the applicant time to provide clearer materials, answer technical questions and allow more residents to register formal support or opposition.
