"This is a petition to protest, and they got well over the amount of 20% that opposed this project from Invenergy," the resident said, urging commissioners to consider the community response when reviewing CUP language. The resident also said the project covered about 875 acres "more than what was projected," and urged the commission to tighten regulations to protect property values and agricultural land.
Planning staff and the chair explained that formal protests move to the Board of County Commissioners for final action and described majority-vote procedures. Commissioners noted the petition would be part of the administrative record and that a public hearing process would follow before any final action on the project.
The commission did not suspend the application; staff said the protest is now part of the county record and that the Board of County Commissioners will consider it under applicable protest rules.
