Seward County staff asked the Board of Commissioners to sign a Kansas Department of Transportation project-programming request (Form 1302) for the Missoni Bridal bridge replacement. Staff said KDOT records previously listed the bridge as privately owned by a railroad, which would have made the county ineligible for federal funds; the form corrects ownership status and notifies KDOT the county will build a complete replacement.
Staff reported the project's estimated total has increased slightly to about $3,030,000 compared with the original request. "So I'm just asking the commissioners this evening to consider passing the project programming request to the Kansas Department of Transportation," staff said. Commissioner Stanton moved to sign the programming request and the board approved it 4–0. Staff said the form was completed with help from county engineers and that the county will provide updates to the public and media as the project advances.
