Stepping Stone Shelter receives $22,691 in opioid settlement funds for casework and telehealth

The board voted unanimously July 20 to distribute the currently available balance of $22,691.31 from the municipalities-fighting-addiction opioid settlement to the Stepping Stone Shelter. A representative of the shelter told commissioners the funds would pay for a full-time caseworker, telehealth services and bus passes to help clients access treatment.
"This would allow us to free her up to continue those wraparound services... and bring someone else in," the shelter representative said, describing how the funding would alleviate demand on regional behavioral-health providers. County staff said the municipalities-fighting-addiction program requires annual reporting to the state and that the allocation follows existing guidelines. Commissioners noted the opioid settlement funds are declining over time and that awards are competitive; the board recorded the distribution as the current available balance in that fund.
