McIntosh Council swears in four members and reorganizes leadership

At its Aug. 22 meeting the McIntosh Town Council administered oaths to four members and completed a leadership reshuffle by lot and nomination, seating Melinda Jones to a drawn term and confirming new council officers.
Mayor Roddy called the Aug. 22, 2024 Town Council meeting to order and administered the oath of office to Lee Deaderick, Melinda Jones, Donald Medeiros and Scott Mullikin.
The council read its civility pledge: “The public officials of the Town of McIntosh pledge to conduct all public discourse in a civil manner.” After drawing lots to determine a term that will run until 2026, Mayor Roddy announced his intent to step down as council president and asked for nominations for the presidency. Melinda Jones’ name was drawn to serve until 2026; nominations for council officers followed and passed without objection.
The reorganization included a motion and unanimous approval that moved the vice-presidential seat and installed officers for the coming term. Councilors briefly discussed continuity and committee assignments during the exchange.
The council adjourned the procedural portion of the meeting and moved to consent items and public comments.
