Elk Mound Fire Department reports nine calls, ISO rating improves to 5; station upgrades planned

Terry Stamm, the village’s Fire Board representative, told the board the fire department responded to nine calls in the past month and currently has 22 members. Fire Chief Fuester is coordinating station upgrades — including installing a shower in the restroom and pursuing automatic-closing hardware for overhead doors — and is working with legal services on a Mary Strand water source contract for firefighting. The department is waiting on an update regarding a radio grant application; the minutes record that all SCBA cylinders passed hydro testing and that assessment invoices were sent to fund department operations.
